MOTORCYCLE-TOURS · ASIA
Experience 15 days of motorcycle travel through Kyrgyzstan, from Osh via Arslanbob, Toktogul, and Lake Songköl to the high valley of the Pamir and the base camp of Peak Lenin.
The Journey
Hardly arrived in Osch, we dive directly into the huge bazaar and sniff the local life. Afterwards, we treat ourselves to a few hours of rest in the hotel. Overnight stay in Osch – perfect for recharging for the upcoming motorbike trips.
Today we pick up our motorcycles and set off on a really lovely day trip. First, we go to Papansee, the large water reservoir near Osh. Then we cruise along unpaved gravel roads through green valleys and up to one of the many passes south of the city. In the afternoon, we roll back to Osh to the hotel along the well-developed road coming from China and Tajikistan – just the right start for our motorcycle journeys.
Today we will first cruise along the main road from Osch towards Bishkek and then turn off towards Arslanbob. The village is located in the middle of the world's largest walnut forest – really idyllic! From our homestay, we can leisurely walk to a waterfall in the evening. Perfect for winding down after another day full of motorcycle travels.
After a delicious breakfast, we say goodbye to our nice hosts and start the motorcycles. We ride up a valley, past oil pumps, to Mailu-Suu. On site, we learn more about the former uranium mining and the legacy issues that are hidden here – not as idyllic as it seems. Our day's goal is a hotel directly at the huge Toktogul reservoir. The view over the lake to the hills on the other side is simply dreamy
Today we’re going up to the 3400 m high Alabel Pass – what a view over the endless Suusamir high plateau! Afterwards we roll down to Kyzyl-Oi to our homestay. If you’re craving adventure, leave the well-paved roads behind and take the remote, bumpy mountain route instead.
Today we’re going from Kyzyl-Oi to the remote yurt camp at the 3000 m high Songköl Lake – there’s no phone reception or electricity, but pure nature. The lake is located on a huge high plateau, where Kyrgyz shepherds let their herds graze in the summer. The nights are mostly cold and starry – perfect for admiring the sky after a long day full of motorcycle travels.
Today we continue along exciting gravel roads to Kochkor. If it works out, we will take a look at a local carpet production. The famous felt carpets – called Shyrdak – are usually made here in home work. A cool stop on our motorcycle trips!
Questions about the tour itinerary?
Our tour guide is happy to answer any questions about the day-by-day route, stops, and details.
Today we are taking it a bit easier. However, those who still don't want to miss out on motorbiking can zoom over to the nearby Yssikköl – the second largest freshwater lake in the world. Perfect for enjoying the day in a relaxed manner on our motorcycle trips.
Today we continue rolling over Naryn towards Tash-Rabat, the old caravanserai in the mountains. On the winding roads, we enjoy the vastness and freedom again
Today landscapes, colors, and mountain ranges change almost hourly - a real adventure! The highlight is the 3400 m high Kulak-Ashuu Pass in the middle of the Tien Shan, the mountain range at the border with China, which gives our tour its name. The stage ends in Kazarman, the small gold mining town, where we can finally take a refreshing shower again.
Today a long but really diverse route is on the agenda. The 3062 m high Kaldama Pass often still has snow at the roadside - a cool sight! Then we go down into the Fergana Valley, but before that we turn south and cruise through picturesque mountains to Gülcha. Overnight stay in a comfortable homestay
Today we travel on well-developed roads to the high valley of Sarytash, right at the foot of the Pamir and the border with Tajikistan. Towering peaks up to 7000 m rise before us - impressive! Our destination is the base camp at the foot of Pik Lenin (7134 m), where yaks graze and we can enjoy the peace in this magnificent mountain world
Now it's back to Osch and thus back to ''civilization'' with good hotel standards and all the usual comforts. We are returning our motorcycles - happy, tired, and full of impressions from our exciting motorcycle journeys.
We spend the last day of our tour relaxed in Osch. Anyone who wants can stroll over the bazaar or explore the city a bit. After that, we toast together to a truly successful tour. Early the next morning, it's off to the airport – with many memories of our motorcycle trips in our luggage.
