Group trip to Botswana and Victoria Falls
Immerse yourself in Botswana's national treasures and enjoy the wildlife in the marshy areas of Moremi, Khwai, and Chobe. Safaris, by vehicle and by boat, await you, with the Victoria Falls as a glorious finale.
Treasures of the Okavango: Discover Botswana's natural wonders
Set your compass towards the treasure of Botswana's best, where a seven-day tour takes you into the heart of the Okavango Delta and promises to leave you enchanted and impressed by Africa's wonders. Starting in the border town of Maun, you will meet your guide and fellow travelers who gather as anticipation fills the air. On the road, we enter the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA), a remarkable cross-border conservation project that unites the territories of five African nations to preserve the wildlife and communities we will encounter. Leaving the wheels for wings, you will see the Okavango Delta from above on an optional panoramic flight, showcasing the vibrant mosaic of winding channels and emerald green floodplains. In the afternoon, a 4x4 safari vehicle will take you deeper into the Khwai Conservation Area, where your home is nestled cozily in the realm of reedbeds and bush landscapes. In the lush green, experienced guides will take you in the mokoro (traditional canoes) into the waterways, allowing you to enjoy the surrounding nature. This is followed by a full-day safari to the Moremi Game Reserve, where we will search for life in the grasslands and acacia trees. As a celebrated game reserve, Moremi has one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Southern Africa, guaranteeing great sightings and fantastic memories. We change our landscape and travel to the dry edge of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pan to Nata. Start the day on foot, facing wildlife on a guided optional morning walk. In the afternoon, the Chobe River draws us to a highlight of the tour as you board a boat and cruise along its channel. Keep an eye out for elephant herds playing in the water and hippos lounging on the banks of the Chobe, views you will cherish for a lifetime. Our wheels turn towards Zimbabwe, on the way to the natural wonder of Victoria Falls. Known as Mosi-oa-Tunya, “The Smoke that Thunders,” the Zambezi River plunges into a turbulent spectacle. Stroll beneath the refreshing mist and the forests of the falls, or opt for adrenaline in all its forms, from white-water rafting to helicopter flights – this last day is yours. Unveil a Botswana that is both ancient and alive, where it is not just a place but a feeling that lingers long after the journey ends.
Daily program: Group trip highlights of Botswana and Victoria Falls
Day 1 – Maun
Today is your arrival day in Maun, where you will meet your team and travel companions in the late afternoon. You will spend the night in Maun, and your team will inform you about the upcoming days as you travel to the Khwai Nature Reserve.
Day 2 – Khwai Nature Reserve
You will be separated from your vehicle for the next 2 nights and it is therefore important that you pack/gather your personal belongings which you may need, before we depart for Maun today as there is limited time in Maun for re-packing and storing. Please pack lightly and only take what you need for the following two nights. Accommodation in Khwai can best be described as a rustic style mobile fly camp. Your meru style tent is equipped with 2 single beds and adjoining en-suite amenities consisting of a bucket shower system and chemical toilet. Today we make our way towards the Okavango Delta. Early risers will have the opportunity to go on an optional scenic flight over the Delta (time and weather permitting). After your optional flight, you will be collected from Maun and will be transferred to the Khwai Conservation area in smaller safari type vehicles. Our guide will prepare us on what to expect for our afternoon mokoro excursion into the Okavango Delta. (Please note: It is possible that the mokoro activity could take place the following morning, depending on the season).
Day 3 – Moremi Wildlife Reserve
Today is a full day of a game safari as we spend most of our day in the Moremi Game Reserve searching for the species that roam the plains. Expect some bumpy roads as we traverse this wilderness area with our 4x4 vehicles. The area offers habitats ranging from wetlands and open waters to grassland and savanna forest, and we hope to see as many species of fauna and flora as possible. This evening, we will return to Khwai to share and compare all the amazing sightings during the safari.
Day 4 – Khwai to Nata
After a final sunrise in the heart of Khwai, we bid farewell to the untamed beauty of Botswana's wilderness and begin our journey south. Our path takes us through Maun, where we reunite with our vehicle. From Maun, we continue northeast towards Nata and our overnight accommodation. This is more than just a stopover — it is a truly unique destination where elephants roam freely through the fenced lodge area, often drinking from the natural waterhole just a few meters from your chalet. We enjoy our dinner, surrounded by the quiet hum of the bush and the gentle sounds of the giants passing by.
Day 5 – Nata to Kasane - Chobe National Park
This morning we start our day early with a bushwalk that gives us the opportunity to get closer to nature. It is a wonderful chance to see animal tracks and other subtle signs of the wilderness that are often hidden from a safari vehicle. After the walk, we travel from the Kalahari sand sheets of Nata to Kasane and arrive in time for lunch and a short siesta before we head out in the afternoon to explore Chobe National Park from the river and enjoy a leisurely boat ride that allows us a personal experience with the many elephants that frequent the river in the afternoon.
Day 6 - Zimbabwe - Victoria Falls
With the memories of our animal encounters firmly in our minds, we cross the border into Zimbabwe this morning and travel the short distance to Victoria Falls. Today you have the opportunity to visit the spectacular Victoria Falls at your own pace, also known by the local name “Mosi-oa Tunya” (the smoke that thunders). While much of the day is dedicated to the sight of the mighty Zambezi cascading into the Batoka Gorge below, the lively adventure community of Victoria Falls also offers a range of optional activities for those seeking an adrenaline rush in the afternoon. For the more relaxed traveler, there are also art markets and cafés on offer. This evening you have the option to join the group for an optional dinner at a local restaurant, where you can enjoy a meal and reflect on the adventures of the day. Your guide will arrange a reservation for those who wish to participate.
Day 7 - Victoria Falls
“Your tour ends after breakfast and with the many activities offered in Victoria Falls, today is the perfect day for the adventure that best suits your style. Whether you navigate the mighty Zambezi River or enjoy a flight over the falls, this is your day to enjoy the many attractions in Victoria Falls.”
